These types of IP addresses provide your devices with a way to connect to your router and all the other devices in your private network. Public IP addresses:


Public IP addresses are used on the public Internet and assigned by your Internet Service Provider. Dynamic and static IP addresses:


Both private IP addresses and public IP addresses are either dynamic or static, which means they either change or don't change. The IP address assigned by a DHCP server is a dynamic IP address, and if not If DHCP is enabled or the device does not support it, the (IP) address must be assigned manually, in which case the (IP) address is called a static address.


What is (IPv4)?


IPv4 is an Internet addressing system that has proven it's worth and has been adopted for many years, based on the employment of 32 bits of numbers that are arranged differently to give different addresses divided into four boxes separated by three points, each cell represents 8 bits and is called the octets, an example of this address (76.240,249.145), and by simple arithmetic, IPv4 has a maximum of 4.3 billion possible addresses. Despite this huge number of addresses, there are not enough IPv4 addresses to accommodate all the computers, smartphones, mobile devices, and other devices that need addresses on the network, this required a new addressing system to meet these growing needs, and IPv6 was the solution.


What is (IPv6)?


IPv6 is a new addressing system developed by the (IETF) and launched in 2012, designed to solve the problem of (IPv4) address exhaustion, it uses 128 processing bits to support approximately 340 trillion different addresses (2 the power of 128), instead of four sets of numbers One to three digits (IPv4), (IPv6) uses eight groups of four hex digits separated by a colon, as in this address 2001:0db8:0012:0001:3c5e:7354:0000:5db1.

The IETF included in its work improvements to (IPv) compared to (IPv4), as the (IPv6) protocol can handle packets more efficiently, improve performance and increase security, and these specifications may last for decades.


Fate (IPv4):


IPv4 addresses aren't going away any time soon, they're still in use, and although new addresses are exhausted, old hardware can still be bought and sold. Perhaps one day IPv6 adoption will reach 100% and no IPv4 addresses will be in use, but that will take a very long time.
